There were three little boys visiting their Grandparents, arriving unexpectedly. The oldest who is ten came out and asked his Grandpa, “Can you make a sound like a frog please Pa? Grandpa (being in a very ordinary mood) responds, “No, I don’t really want to make the sound of a frog right now.” So, the second little boy who is eight comes out and asks his Grandfather, “Will you please, please make a sound like a frog for us?” “Grandpa again says, “No, not now. I don’t really want to do that. I’m in a really grumpy mood, I have missed my game of Bowls today with you three boys arriving unannounced. “Then the third little boy who is six asks in a very soft voice, “Grandpa, Please, please will you make a sound like a frog?” “Why do all of you boys want me to make a sound like a frog?” Grandpa asked.
The little boy replied with an extremely hopeful face, “Well, Mum said that when you croak we get to go to Disneyland!”

As you are probably aware by now we have introduced a new type of wagering, unique to VICBET and is available on every race – Head 2 Head Betting. This is in groups of two and three and the easiest way to explain it is like this, your selection needs to simply beat the other one or two home in the final finishing order and you take the Fixed Odds on offer at the time of the wager. Put in simple terms it is like a mini-race within a race. The Group One Lightning Stakes was first run in 1955 and has been a Group One race since 1987. It is the only Group One race run in Australia over 1,000 metres and has always been run at Flemington except for one year in 2007 when it was run at Moonee Valley due to track renovations. It is the first leg of the Melbourne Autumn Spring Treble, one week later is the G1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield and then Australia’s best and most Famous Sprint race – the G1 Newmarket Handicap on the first Saturday in March at Flemington………Black Caviar has won the most Lightning Stakes – three in 2011, 2012 and 2013, hence the race is now known as the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes….
