There is a story about a monastery in Europe perched high on a cliff several hundred feet in the air. The only way to reach the monastery was to be suspended in a basket which was pulled to the top by several monks who pulled and tugged with all their strength. Obviously the ride up the steep cliff in that basket was terrifying. One tourist got exceedingly nervous about half-way up as he noticed that the rope by which he was suspended was old and frayed. With a trembling voice he asked the monk who was riding with him in the basket how often they changed the rope. The monk thought for a moment and answered softly, “Whenever it breaks.”

VH2H – Head to Head Betting

VICBET H2H Betting is available every race in two groups of three. It is the three Favourites (1st, 2nd and 3rd) combined in one H2H outcome and the second H2H is the 4th, 5th and 6th Favourites combined, excluding the Fav if it is Odds-on (under $2). This is a moving dynamic market so as the odds change for the actual race the odds will change for the H2H outcome. Also, you can pick your own H2H outcome, then simply text Tim Cleary (0433-339347) and he will price up for you, this can be in a group of two or three……This a novelty bet type so it is for the small players……

VMEETINGS

What an unbelievable weekend of Races coming up with the Caulfield Cup the clear highlight along with a great list of Group two and three races. There is also Group 3 Racing at Randwick and Ascot. It is the time of year when all the Country Cups are rolling in as well, this Thursday in VIC we have the Moe Cup and the Avoca Cup is on Saturday. If anyone is at the Avoca Cup Meeting go and see my Brother Lyndon Cleary who is working there as a Bookmaker and he will give you very generous odds on all venues. On Sunday there are the Seymour and Horsham Cups…..

VICBET Extended Place Promo – If you have an Each Way wager on the Caulfield Cup this is what we are doing, same as what we did with the Turnbull a few weeks ago where we gave back $4,340 in refunds. If you selection runs 4th we will give you back half your EW Stake – $150 of the place portion of your wager. If your selection runs 5th we will give you back half your EW Stake- $100 of the place portion of your wager. Finally if your pick runs 6th then $50 is credited back to you which is half your EW Stake. Now as an example so there is no confusion, let’s say you have $500 EW TF Mr Quickie, the current 4th Fav. If it runs 4th you get $150 back, runs 5th then you get $100 back and if it happens to run 6th you get $50 back. Note if you have more than one EW bet on the same horse it will be paid out on the first EW wager on your selection. The $5m Caulfield Cup was first run at Caulfield Racecourse in 1879 and has always been run over 2,400 metres and similar to the Caulfield Guineas it was run at Flemington during WWII. It is one of the BIG three best races in Australia along with the Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup and is the richest race in the world over the 2,400 metre distance. The worst race fall in Australian history occurred at the 1885 Caulfield Cup when 15 of the 44 horses competing fell as they turned onto the straight, resulting in the death of 25-year-old jockey Donald Nicolson. Trainer Bart Cummings holds the record for training the most Caulfield Cup winners with seven – Galilee, Big Philou, Leilani, Ming Dynasty (twice), Let’s Elope and Viewed. The famous Caulfield/Melbourne Cup double in the same year has been won 11 times including Poseidon (1906), Rising Fast (1954), Galilee (1966), Let’s Elope (1982) and Might and Power (1997)…….…Click on the link below to watch the 1997 Caulfield Cup that Might and Power won, the best Caulfield Cup I have ever witnessed:
