The Group Three Bletchingly Stakes was first run in 1994 and is the last Group Race of the Racing Season. It became a Group 3 race in 1997 and is named after the former Champion Racehorse Bletchingly (1970-1993) who was much more renowned for his deeds as a Sire as he only had five race starts. At Stud in the Spring of 1975 he was an immediate success with the Famous Kingston Town in his first crop. Some of the later crops of stars included my All-Time Favourite horse Emancipation, then also Star Watch (Golden Slipper 1988), Canny Lad (Golden Slipper 1990), Canny Lass, Coronation Day, Boardwalk Angel, Spirit of Kingston, True Version. One if his Granddaughters Shantha’s Choice (Out of of Canny Lad) is the dam of the Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice.….Watch Emancipation win the 1984 Chipping Norton Stakes – CLICK HERE
