A proud and confident Genius named Stephen makes a bet with an idiot named Randy. The genius Stephen says, “Hey idiot, every question I ask you that you don’t know the answer, you have to give me $5. We will take it in turns and if you ask me a question and I can’t answer yours which is very unlikely then I will give you $5,000.” The idiot Randy says, “Okay.” The genius then asks, “How many continents are there in the world?” The idiot doesn’t know and hands over $5. The idiot then says, “What animal stands with two legs but sleeps with three?” The genius Stephen tries and tries, searches very hard for the answer but eventually gives up and hands over $5,000 to Randy. The genius Stephen says, “Dammit, I lost. By the way, what was the answer to your question?” The idiot Randy hands over $5….

Doncaster Mile Day is one of the classic days on the Racing Calendar and is the renowned as the best mile race we have in Australia. The first running of the race was way back in 1866 and the 1892 running of the race had 30 starters. It has always traditionally been run on Easter Monday but in recent times it has changed to now be on the first day of the Randwick Championships. Glen Boss has tasted success the most with seven victories starting with Sprint By in 1996 all the way through to Brutal in 2019. Tommy Smith and Gai Waterhouse hold the Doncaster record with seven but Chris Waller is closing fast with six of the last thirteen. Multiple winners of the Doncaster Mile are Mildura (1940, 1941), Blue Legend (1946, 1947), Slogan II (1956, 1957), Tudor Hill (1959, 1960), Fine And Dandy (1961, 1963), Super Impose (1990, 1991), Pharaoh (1994, 1995), Sunline (1999, 2002) and Sacred Falls (2013, 2014). Other Notable winners of the Doncaster Mile include Briseis (1876), Wakeful (1901), Chatham (1934), Hall Mark (1935), Tobin Bronze (1967), Gunsynd (1972), Maybe Mahal (1978), Emancipation (1983), Grand Armee (2003), Private Steer (2004), Racing To Win (2006), More Joyous (2012), Winx (2016) and Happy Clapper (2018). In my time Super Impose has been the best winner I have seen of the Doncaster Mile, when he won in 1990 and 1991. With an emphasis on Horse Racing, Dogs and Trots we are the Old Fashioned type of Bookmakers (four generations going back to 1941).
