VJOKE

Several men are in a locker room of a Melbourne Metropolitan Golf Club. A mobile phone sitting on the bench starts ringing and one of the group, Randall puts the phone on speaker and begins to talk as he puts on his golf shoes. Everyone else in the room stops to listen. “Hello?” A woman says: “Honey, it’s me. Are you are the Golf Club?” Randall says: “Yes I am” The woman then says: I’m at the shopping Mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It’s only $1,200 right now, down from $1,900, I think it is a real bargain. Is it okay if I buy it?” Randall then says: “Sure, go ahead darling if you like it that much.” The woman then says: “Oh, thanks so very much, you are the Best Husband in the World. Also I stopped by the Mercedes Dealership in Brighton this morning on the way to the shops and saw all the new models. There was one that I really really liked.” Randall then says: “How much was it?” The Woman replies: “$95,000.” Randall then says: “OK, but for that price I want it with all the optional extras.” The Woman says: “Great! Oh, and one more thing. The house that we looked at last year in Black Rock is back on the market. they’re asking for $3.5m, you know I love it with that awesome view.” Randall then says: “Well then, go ahead and make them an offer, but no more than $3.3m.” “Wow, great, I’ll get straight onto the Real Estate Agent! I’ll see you later! I love you!” Randall then replies: “Love you too, bye!” Randall hangs up. The other men in the locker room are looking at him in absolute astonishment.

Then he smiles and asks, “Anyone know whose phone this is?”

It is another big week of Racing coming up. We head to Launceston tomorrow with two Group 3 races including the Launceston Cup as well as a Listed race. On Saturday the feature is the Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington as well as a Group 2 race and two Group 3 races. Randwick there is the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes as well as the Group 1 Surround Stakes. We also have Group One Racing from Otaki (NZ) and Sha Tin (HK)….

VFEATURE RACING 

The Future Races are all online now with 31 races to have a browse at. This week the VSPECIAL is in the Newmarket Handicap which is run in a few weeks on the 6th March. September Run sure does look to have a promising future after its dashing finish in the Lighting Stakes last week. It is a $2.50 favourite at the moment and this week we are offering a VBOOST increase up to $3 for the up and comer. The Australian Guineas commenced in 1986 so I thought the Chipping Norton having a much richer history was better to talk about it. The Group One Chipping Norton was first run in 1925 and is named after the suburb Chipping Norton located in Liverpool about 30 kms south-west of Sydney. Some of the stars of the Turf to have won this time-honoured race include Phar Lap (1930), Bernborough (1946), Tulloch (1960 & 1962), Emancipation (1984), Super Impose (1991-92), Octagonal (1997) Tie the Knot (1999-2002) and Winx (2016-19). Tie the Knot and Winx have won it four times in consecutive years. The race has always been run at either Randwick or Warwick Farm and is considered the key stepping stone towards the Doncaster Handicap or the Sydney Cup. The winner is exempt from ballot for entry into both races.

Many people think we are one of those Corporate outfits but that is not the case. With an emphasis on Horse Racing solely we are the Old Fashioned type of Bookmakers (four generations going back to 1941) concentrating purely on Horse Racing, no Sports, Harness or Greyhounds .
