VJOKE
A bus full of ugly people had a head on collision with a truck. When they died, God granted all of them one wish. The first person said, “I want to be gorgeous.” God snapped his fingers and it happened. The second person said the same thing and God did the same thing. This went on and on throughout the whole group. God noticed the last man in line was laughing hysterically. By the time God arrived to the last five people, the last man was laughing and rolling on the ground. When the man’s turn came, he laughed and said,
“I wish they were all ugly again.”

VFACTS
The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is run over a distance of 2,000 metres at Royal Randwick during the Championships series. Prize money in 2013 was $500k and was increased to $4 million in 2014 to become the richest race of the Sydney Autumn Carnival and as of 2019 the second richest WFA race in Australia behind the $5m WS Cox Plate. The origins of this race are firmly associated with colonial Sydney and the growth of thoroughbred racing in the colony during the 1840s and 1850s. The Australian Jockey Club (AJC) initiated an Autumn race meeting which coincided with the Easter holiday period and created several races which exist even today. Of these races was the Queen’s Plate in honour of Queen Victoria which was first run in 1851 over a distance of about 3 miles or 4,800 metres. Through the early 20th century the race continued to hold it prestige, but with the decline in long distance racing, the AJC focused on the Sydney Cup as the premier long distance event of the AJC Autumn Carnival. By the mid 1950s the race had changed its name and had its distance shortened. The distance was changed several times until today’s distance of 2,000 metres in 1986. Winx is certainly not the only superstar horse to have won the race throughout its rich history. The list of champions on the Queen Elizabeth Stakes honour roll makes impressive reading, and includes: Archer (1862), Tim Whiffler (1868, 1870, 1871), The Barb (1869), Chester (1878, 1879), Carbine (1889, 1890, 1891), Wakeful (1902), Poseidon (1908), Windbag(1925, 1926), Phar Lap (1930), Peter Pan (1933), Rogilla (1934), Tulloch (1958, 1959, 1961), Doriemus (1996), Might And Power (1998), Lonhro (2003) and Winx (2017, 2018 and 2019) and finally the last two years in 2020 & 2021 – Addeybb…..To watch some of the memorable Queen Elizabeth Stakes winners in the last three decades – CLICK HERE
VREFER
Many people think we are one of those Corporate outfits but that is not the case. With an emphasis on Horse Racing, Dogs and Trots we are the Old Fashioned type of Bookmakers (four generations going back to 1941). My Late Father Allen Cleary was a Bookmaker from 1956 – 2006, his Uncle Bob was a Bookmaker from 1941 – 1961. Today it is myself Rod and my Son Tim sharing the reins. We are NOT Corporates, we work On Course at the Melbourne Metro Meetings on the Rails, however the vast majority of our turnover is Online. Once again your referrals are always very much appreciated and one of the main sources of us sourcing new Clients so thanks very much in advance…….
