VJOKE

Bob & Marion were a God-fearing couple who were married young and were married 62 years. Throughout their relationship, they enjoyed a healthy sex-life, of which they were proud. As they reached their twilight years, the couple made a deal with each other, if it were at all possible, whoever died first would come back and inform the other if there is an after-life, and if there is, if you could still have sex after death. Their biggest fear of course, was that there might be no after-life at all. After a long life together, and following the statistical average, the husband was the first to die. What’s is the after-life like?”  “Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex. I have breakfast and then it is off to the golf course. I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple of more times. Then I have lunch (you would be proud – lots of greens). Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon. After supper, it is back to the golf course again. Then it is more sex until late at night. I catch some much-needed sleep and then the next day it starts all over again”.  “Oh, Bob! Are you in Heaven?”  “No – I’m a rabbit somewhere near Mildura.”

It was another great Saturday of racing last weekend and it is even better one coming up. We have Group One races at Caulfield – the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and at Royal Randwick – the George Main Stakes, certainly the races are really hotting up now. The support races on Saturday are just as good as the two Group One’s. Don’t forget on Friday there is three Group 3 races at Newcastle highlighted by the $200k Newcastle Gold Cup……

The race’s name is derived from George Main, a former chairman of the Australian Jockey Club (AJC) and breeder. It was first held in 1945 and was won by Modulation. There was no race held in 2007 due to Equine Influenza. The George Main Stakes was upgraded to Group 1 Status in 1979. Over the race’s history, a number of horses have managed to win this event on more than one occasion since 1946 including Kingston Town (1981-82), Regal Rhythm (1967-68), Count Radiant (1964-65), Shannon (1946-47) and Winx on three occasions (2016, 2017 and 2018). The George Main Stakes has been won by some other classy gallopers including Emancipation (1983), Vo Rogue (1989), Shaftesbury Avenue (1990), Lonrho (2003), Grand Armee (2004), Road To Rock (2009), Stream (2013), Sacred Falls (2014) and Kermadec (2015).
