A guy goes into a bar with a small dog . He plays Ragtime, Mozart, you name it, a string of hits and classics……and the bartender and patrons are thoroughly enjoying the music. Suddenly a much bigger dog comes running into the bar and he grabs the small dog by the scruff of the neck. He then drags him out of the bar. The Autumn Group Ones continue this week with the time honoured Group 1 Goodwood at Morphettville and the Group 1 Doomben Cup. The Group 2 Magic Million Roses and Group 3 BRC Sprint are on the support card at Doomben. As per usual we have all the Melbourne, Interstate and NZ action from Wednesday to Sunday, with Sha Tin (HK) and Singapore joining us on Sunday Twilight for punters needing to get out! We have capacity fields at headquarters at Flemington on Saturday to work with. All the racing venues from Thursday through to Saturday are online now, the Feature races are highlighted in the Group Races Tab down the left side of the VICBET website…..

This is the first time ever the Group 1 Goodwood is a $1 Million Dollar race! And with a Melbourne Cup like Capacity field of 20 runners and three emergencies, what a race we have. Since the race switched to a set weights race in 2007 it has increasingly attracted the best horses the country has to offer. Including two of the best sprinters our country has ever seen with Takeover Target (2009) and Black Caviar (2012) both successful. Last years winner, Multiple Group 1 winner Black Heart Bart backs up to defend his crown this year.
The Group 1 Doomben Cup is a $650k WFA race over 2,200m. For those of you old enough to remember, the “King of the Kiwis” Rough Habit was the undeniable king of this race winning it a record three times in a row! (1991, 1992, 1993). The 90’s were truly vintage years for this race as the other winners were elites of the turf including Durbridge (1994), Danewin (1995), Juggler (1996) and Might N Power (1998).
