VJOKE

A man in his early 40’s had a financial windfall and bought a brand new BMW Nazca C2 and was out on the open road for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair and he decided to open her up. VMEETINGS

This weekend starts with Day One of the Swan Hill Carnival on Friday, headed by the Golden Topaz. On Saturday the highlight is the time honoured Stradbroke Handicap meeting conducted at Eagle Farm over 1,400m.  The support card includes the Group 1 Queensland Derby for 3yo’s and the Group 1 JJ Atkins Plate. On Sunday we have the final Day of the Swan Hill Carnival with the Swan Hill Cup and all the interstate venues plus all the overseas twilight action from Korea and Singapore. On Monday we have Metropolitan Public Holiday action from Randwick (Kensington Track) in Sydney and the Melbourne meeting at Mornington. All the racing venues from Thursday through to Sunday are online now, the Feature races and Group races are highlighted in the Tab’s down the left side of the VICBET website…..

VFACTS 

The Group One Stradbroke Handicap was first run in 1890 and is the highlight of the Brisbane Winter Carnival. The Race is named after Lord Stradbroke who was a relative of Henry John Rous (1795-1877). Rous was appointed the Public Handicapper in 1855 in England and in this role he devised and introduced the “Weight-For-Age” scale for all Thoroughbred racing that is still in use today.
